Hi, I’m Alison, the founder of Northern Discovery. I’m based in the UAE, where I’ve lived for 25 years in five emirates! I also have a home in Scotland and love to explore my home countries and beyond!

I write about destinations around the world, with my speciality being the UAE but I also cover Oman, Iceland, USA and the West Coast of Scotland.

I specialise in creating meaningful and personalised travel experiences designed to inspire, connect, and enrich. Using my years of experience exploring, researching and creating my own itineraries as well as creating comprehensive blog posts and digital itineraries and travel guides, I help travellers from all backgrounds discover hidden gems and authentic experiences, whether they’re visiting the UAE, Oman, Iceland, Scotland or exploring other international destinations.

Through Northern Discovery, my goal is to make travel inspiring, accessible, and rewarding for everyone, whether you’re journeying solo, seeking a bespoke itinerary or looking to join an inclusive community of fellow adventurers.
